TWO government employees at Mandalay International Airport were rewarded last month for returning a bag containing K4 million left by a passenger.

U Aye Thwin and U Myint Aye discovered the money bag sitting on a luggage cart left by an arriving passenger on May 30 and immediately turned it over to airport authorities.

The owner of the bag rewarded the two with gifts of K40,000 each at a ceremony celebrating the seventh anniversary of the airport on September 17.

“I am very happy to be recognised for my honesty,” said U Aye Thwin, 50, who has been working at airports for 30 years, including those at Nyaung Oo, Myitkyina and Mandalay Chan Mya Thazi.
