TIRED
of cooking the same old dishes every week? Chef extraordinaire
Nan San San Aye has put together her first English-language cookbook,
which specialises in Myanmar cuisine.
Cooking With Love Myanmar Style is an easy-to-use guide to cooking
traditional meals using the country’s staple dish, rice.
The recipes are geared towards foreigners as well as Myanmar
with mild curries and was translated into English by renowned
writer Ma Thanegi.
The book consists mostly of main dishes, soups and pastes and
features author’s notes of which foods go best with each
recipe.
The original Myanmar version, Adipati Hin Chet Nee Ah Twae Ae
Sat Myar, was released three years ago and Nan San San Aye has
put together one other cookbook in Myanmar since then, Pyaw Shwin
Pot Par Chat Sa Yar Myar, which she plans to have translated over
the coming year.
Nan San San Aye has been serving up a range of delectable delights
since she opened her own restaurant in 1989, Adipati (Chancellor),
on the Yangon-Mandalay highway near Hpyoo. She also opened one
in Yangon in 1995 on Shwe Gone Dine Street in East Shwe Gone Dine
Quarter.
She also has been contributing recipes to journals since 1996.
Cooking With Love Myanmar Style hit shelves on September 2.
It can be found in all major book stores.
