Energy library to open soon
THE Myanmar Engineering Society plans to open a public library
specialising in energy-related books and papers on November 3,
an official from society (MES) said.
U Win Khine, the general secretary of the society, said the library,
which will be located at MES headquarters in Hlaing township in
Yangon, will help broaden knowledge about energy, including renewable
energy, among people in Myanmar.
“The aim of establishing the library is to help people learn
more about energy-related issues,” he said, adding that
he has donated some of his own books to the library’s collection.
He said the library will include many advanced and expensive books
that are not easily accessible by the general public, as well
as a computer with internet access.
Meanwhile, U Win Khine said officials from the Ministry of Energy
will read papers on Myanmar’s oil and gas prospects and
offshore hydrocarbon exploration at one-day seminars on November

First Yangon-Lashio bus route launched
TET Lan highway bus company launched the first direct bus route
from Yangon to Lashio starting on October 23.
“We launched it because there was no bus line to Lashio
from Yangon. Those who want to go to Lashio had to go to Mandalay
and then transfer to a car,” said U Win Khaing, an official
from the bus company’s Yangon branch.
“Sometimes they had to sleep one night in Mandalay if there
was no car going to Lashio. It was very inconvenient for them,”
he said.
“For now we have two 49-seat buses on the route, one from
Yangon and another from Lashio, running everyday. But we will
increase the number of buses depending on demand,” he said.
The bus leaves Yangon at 3:30pm and reaches to Lashio between
12:00 and 1:00pm the following day. The Lashio bus departs at
9:00am and arrives in Yangon between 7:00am to 9:00am the next
day.
