Bookings are up on last year, she said, adding that Traders can handle up to four weddings a day. Couples that wanted to celebrate their marriage on a particular date needed to book at least six months in advance, she said.
 

“I like velvet slippers because they never slip off, go with any colour of dress and are easy to put on and take off,” she said, adding that they are also long-lasting and can survive the daily grind for up to six months.

 

“We made some of these items using Japanese designs. All interested persons and the general public can see them before they are collected by the people who commissioned them,”

Ko Shwe Oung Thame was one of the founders of the Gallery Orient, which opened in 1970, and the Lokanat Galleries that opened in 1971. He also served as a lecturer at Yangon University’s Kyeemyindaing campus from 1981 to 1985.
