Charity group donates equipment to hospital

By Zaw Winn

A LOCAL charitable organisation called the Online Donation Group contributed an oxygen concentrator to East Yangon General Hospital on November 12, said the group’s leader, Ko Aung Myo Thu.

The group, which was formed in 2005 by young people who met via online chat sites, has raised funds for donations to orphanages, monasteries and hospitals.

“We try to donate as much as we can to places that need help,” said Ko Aung Myo Thu. “I’m happy with the donations for the oxygen concentrator because it was the biggest amount of money we have raised so far – K2 million.”

Dr Daw San San Hline, the medical superintendent at East Yangon General Hospital, said the machine will be useful for patients with heart and lung problems.

“I was very pleased with the donation, especially to see young people so interested in raising money for charity,” she said.

The group collects donations every Sunday at Café Aroma in Dagon Centre in Sanchaung township from 12pm to 4pm. Anyone interested in giving money at other times can call 374-238, 09-501-8326 or 09-519-9241.
