STATE-RUN Myanma Insurance paid out millions of kyats in compensation
on November 15 for accident insurance.
Nearly K4 million were paid out as the result of a traffic accident
in May in which a bus from Yangon’s No 33 line, under the
Yangon Division Buses Control Committee Department (2), struck
an electricity transformer and four vehicles near Moekaung Junction
in Yankin township.
The company paid K395,493 in compensation for the bus, K270,000
for the transformer, and K2.6 million, K1.1 million, K236,250
and K100,800 respectively to the vehicle owners.
The families of two people who died in the accident each received
K300,000 in comprehensive motor insurance compensation and K100,000
in third-party insurance.
Meanwhile, Oriental Leasing Company received comprehensive motor
insurance totalling K1.3 million following a traffic accident
in North Okkalapa township in May. The company had previously
been paid more than K2 million in August for another accident.
Another accident, this one involving a bus on the No 41 line
under the Yangon Division Buses Control Committee Department (3),
resulted in payment of K574,025 for injuries sustained by the
owner of a damaged vehicle and another K290,107 for the vehicle
itself.
The company also paid K211,104 to Shwe Thanlwin Company for
an accident that damaged one of its vehicles in Pyay Road, and
K100,000 in third-party insurance to each of the families of three
people who died in separate vehicle accidents.
