THE Singapore embassy in Yangon is now accepting applications
for the 2008 Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarship Program for study at
Singapore’s universities with the aim of increasing the
talent pool in the Asia-Pacific region.
The program, which was set up with the support of the Singaporean
financial community and is administered by the Association of
Banks in Singapore, provides support for three years of study
for a general degree and four years for an honours degree, both
at the undergraduate level.
The scholarships cover tuition, other compulsory fees, return
airfare and an annual maintenance allowance. Following the completion
of their studies, scholarship students must commit to working
for three years for a company in Singapore or for a university-approved,
Singapore-based company in their home country.
Applicants must be under 25 years of age, have acceptable English-language
test scores, have a good co-curricular activities record that
highlights leadership qualities, and be a passport holder from
Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea,
Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, China, Thailand or Vietnam.
Interested students must submit high school transcripts, results
of any university-level exams and an essay with their application.
Students should also attach the results of their Scholastic Assessment
Test (SAT) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if
required by the university to which they are applying.
Applications must be submitted by December 31 to the Dr Goh
Keng Swee Scholarship Fund, c/o Embassy of the Republic of Singapore-Myanmar,
238 Dhammazedi Road, Bahan township, Yangon.
Successful applicants will be notified in May 2008. More information
