CONSTRUCTION of the ‘Zeyar Myine’ housing project
on the east side of Mawlamyine railway station is about 60 percent
complete, local residents said on December 5.
“The project is now 60pc complete,” said U Win Soe,
a Mawlamyine resident, adding that those who relocated can buy
cement and wood at a discounted government-set price.
“The project consists of a total of 1192 plots and site
preparation started in November 2003,” he said.
Plots of 2400 square feet are K1.2-1.3 million and those of
3600 square feet are K2.3-2.5 million. But the 4800 square feet
plots at K4.8 million are not so sought after because they are
on a lower ground level and get flooded after heavy rainfall,
he said.
Out of 1192 plots, 573 have an area of 2400 square feet, 438
are 3600 square feet and only 181 are 4800 square feet.
