THE Asian Scholarship Foundation (ASF) is offering Asia Fellows
Awards for scholars and professionals from Asian countries to
help them carry out research projects.
The ASF website (www.asianscholarship.org) describes the awards
as grants aimed at helping Asian scholars and professionals conduct
research projects for periods of six to nine months in any of
the participating countries except their own.
Scholars must have a master’s or doctoral degree, or the
equivalent professional training, and a minimum of three years
of university teaching experience. Professionals must have at
least five years of work experience. All candidates must be under
the age of 46 at the time of the application deadline.
Among the expenses covered by the awards are roundtrip airfare,
a monthly living allowance covering housing and other expenses,
limited accident and health insurance, field trip and language
training allowance, research allowance and computer purchase.
At the end of the fellowship, fellows must submit to the ASF
office in Bangkok evidence of the results of their research project
in the form of publications, photos or artistic works, and audio
and video productions.
The deadline for applications is January 11. Candidates will
be interviewed in mid May in Bangkok, Beijing and Delhi and awardees
will be notified in early July.
