MINISTER for Relations U Aung Kyi met Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on January 11, the fourth meeting between the two since October.

The meeting at the Seinle Kantha State Guesthouse lasted for more than an hour, according to a government announcement on national television.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, was allowed to meet senior members of the party in November, shortly after the second meeting between her and U Aung Kyi.

U Aung Kyi was appointed last October to liaise between Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the government, to promote talks aimed at achieving national reconsolidation.

The appointment of U Aung Kyi followed an offer by Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe in October for a direct meeting with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, if she changes her stance on the government of Myanmar.
