Word On The Street....with Rebecca Win

By Yadana Htun

You’ve just released your new music VCD, Shoke Kone Taut Mae (It will mess up!), with singer Yee Mon. How did you decide to work together?

It was all Yee Mon. She called me up and asked if I wanted to join her on a project. She had the idea to make this album. It was very easy and straightforward to work with her. We both had a lot of fun.

Asides that, what have you been doing recently?

I have acted in three VCDs and some advertisements — and I’ve also performed on some group albums. I have been kind of busy.

Have you found it difficult to move away from singing and into other areas?

It is nothing special. Like with everything, it gets easier as time goes by.

Looking at fashion, how would you describe your style?

I don’t wear things to be trendy, I usually just dress in what I think is nice and suits me.

Do you have your own designer like some other celebrities?

No, I don’t. But it’s a nice thought, to have a designer who can produce exactly what you want. It would mean you have more time to focus on your real job without worrying about how you look and what you wear.

What’s the one item of makeup you can’t live without?

Mascara — I always take it with me.

As a teenager, how did you manage to balance your education and career?

No one can do both at the same time and I’m no different. I had to put my education on hold for a while so I could pay more attention to my career.

What’s your feeling about being a successful young singer?

I was very determined to succeed and worked hard to get where I am. I’ll be happy if I can continue my career successfully.

Do you have any bad habits?

I have cravings. And I’m always too busy with work because I have trouble saying no. I don’t have much time to rest, I’m always tired.

Where will you be for this year’s Thingyan (Water) festival?

I’ll be in Mandalay.

What’s your motto in life?

It’s simple. If you work hard for your goals, you will eventually be rewarded with success.
