YANGON – Four small bombs exploded almost simultaneously in the eastern Myanmar border town of Tachileik, amid warnings from authorities that ethnic insurgents could step up their attacks, state media said last Tuesday.

 

THE United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) plans to start a project to provide updated agricultural market information to local farmers, said Mr Tang Zhengping, the organisation’s Myanmar representative.

“The aircraft slipped on the runway during the takeoff of a flight from Putao to Myitkyina. Fortunately, none of our passengers were injured,” the spokesperson said, adding that the 70-seat ATR-72 aircraft was carrying 57 passengers.
 
A GERMAN economics professor from the University of Kaiserslautern who is visiting Myanmar this month said he was astonished by the enthusiasm of local masters and PhD students who attended his first lecture on February 18.
