YANGON –Indian oil company Essar will this year commence natural gas exploration at an inland block in Rakhine state, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported last week.

 

“The cost of investing in the fish farming industry has increased three-fold in the last three years,” said U Soe Tint, vice chairman of the Fish Farmers Association. “In 2005 it cost about K2.5 million an acre to farm fish but that has risen to about K4.4 million this year,”

THE China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is planning to drill exploration wells at its M-10 block in the Gulf of Mottama, the state-run Mirror newspaper reported on February 17.

 

“When we discussed this deal with our fish farmers, they told us that they need at least nine or 10 months to gradually scale their production upward. But we will certainly be doing everything we can to meet demand earlier than this,”
