Communication Officer (NO-B)



UNICEF Myanmar is seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and committed professional to assist in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of an advocacy and communication strategy to promote respect for childrens’ and womens’ rights, and supports UNICEF’s mission in the country. Under the general supervision of the Chief of Communication,

Your role would be:

- Contribute to the development of an advocacy and communication strategy;
- Develop and maintain close collaboration with mass media, media groups and organizations;
- Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories and other information materials;
- Prepare background communication and promotional materials for briefings and visits;
- Organize and generate public support for special events and activities;
- Monitor and recommend actions to maintain a positive image for the organization;
- Follow up on the production and oversee the quality of advocacy and communication materials;
- Monitor and evaluate dissemination of advocacy and communication materials to target audiences;
- Establish/maintain an up-to-date documentation centre for publications, press releases and clippings, as well as photographic and audio-visual materials

You should have:

- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent professional work experience in the communication area, combined with a university degree in a related field .
- Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media or interactive digital media, at either the national or international level. Knowledge of current theories and practices in communication research and the role of mass media will be asset.
- Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
- Fluency in Myanmar and English (oral and written).
- Knowledge of computer systems, especially interactive digital media.
- Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with media representatives, government officials and other UNICEF partners,
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization
- Previous working experience within the UN system and NGO will be considered an asset.
