Sign language course

By Khine Thazin Aung

THE Mary Chapman School for the Deaf in Yangon will offer a five-day sign language course at its campus on Thantaman Road in Dagon township next month, said school principal Daw Margaret Kyaw Mya.

No dates have been set for the course, but it will be held following the end of matriculation exams, she said.

She said the course was open to anyone interested in sign language, including family members and volunteers who frequently communicate with deaf people.

“We will teach students the most useful basic hand signs in English and Myanmar to communicate with the hearing-impaired,” Daw Margaret Kyaw Mya said

The course will meet from 9am to noon, she said. Course fees have not yet been set.
