THE government enacted a law last week detailing procedures for the May referendum on whether to adopt a new constitution, and also appointed a commission to oversee the balloting, which it said would be free and fair.

 

“We are inviting anyone who wishes to donate blood as a meritorious deed at the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda,” he said. “It is a meritorious deed to give one’s own flesh and blood to a needy person on sacred ground.”

AN orchid research program at National Kandawgyi Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin has resulted in the discovery of two orchid species from genera that have never before been recorded in Myanmar.
 
A JAPAN education seminar organised by the Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) in cooperation with the Japanese embassy in Yangon and Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni was held on February 23 at Yangon’s Hotel Nikko.
 
“My creation can be used as a table lamp in foreign countries while Buddhists can use it for offering light to Buddha images,” said U Tun Win, who owns Sacca Traditional Artistical Metal Handweaving in Mingalardon township, Yangon.
 

This year there will again be 166 booths, of which 154 will be inside and only 12 will be outdoors.
