CAPITAL Hyper Mart, planned as the biggest shopping centre in
Dawbon township on the outskirts of Yangon, should open in mid-March,
said Daw Khine Zabai, the general manager of Paclink Trading Co,
which is managing the centre.
The centre sits on 4 acres of land near the Shwe Pu Zun Cafeteria
on Min Nanadar Street and was built in just over two years from
May 2006.
“We sub-contracted the construction to other developers,
while Paclink supervised the overall project,” she said.
“We chose this place because it’s near the downtown
area, while Yankin and Bahan townships are only a 15-minute drive.
We think that because there are no other similar developments
or business centres in the immediate area there will be considerable
demand for our centre,” she added.
The two-storey building has a total floorspace of 150,000 square
feet and will offer 41 retail spaces, including Capital Hyper
Mart, which will be spread out over two floors. “There are
10 shops on the ground floor and 31 upstairs. Each retail space
will have an area ranging from 300 to 4700 square feet.
“All these spaces have been rented out since November,”
she said, declining to give figures for the per-foot rental costs.
In addition to the facility, there will be a 65,000-square-foot
car park, which has been designed to accommodate 240 cars.
