A JAPAN education seminar organised by the Japan Student Services
Organisation (JASSO) in cooperation with the Japanese embassy
in Yangon and Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni was held on
February 23 at Yangon’s Hotel Nikko.
The seminar, attended by nearly 300 Myanmar students and Japanese
language teachers, was aimed at providing information on studying
in Japan, including details about Japanese universities, requirements
for studying overseas, finances and working while attending school.
“The number of Myanmar students studying in Japan has
increased fivefold in the past five year,” an official from
JASSO said at the seminar.
Ms Satoko Toku, the first secretary of the Japanese embassy
in Yangon, gave a presentation on student services provided by
the embassy.
“For those students who are interested in studying in
Japan, we can provide advice on a wide range of topics such as
how to prepare for study in Japan and student life in general.
Consultation is conducted in the Myanmar language,” she
said.
This year’s first Examination for Japanese University
