THE Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation will offer five courses
in the coming weeks with the aim of improving the country’s
movie industry.
Courses will be held in scriptwriting, film directing, film
editing, acting and basic photography.
“We want to produce competent movie technicians and good
actors, who are hard to find these days,” said U Myint Thein
Pe, the president of the organisation.
“As for the acting course, we want talented people who
can act according to their characters,” he said.
He said each of the courses, for which applications will be
accepted starting in the first week of March, will be three months
long.
“The first month will cover the basics of the movie industry
and will the same for all courses. In the second month we will
separate the students according to categories and teach them in
their specialisations,” U Myint Thein Pe said.
“The third month is practical for all courses. They will
have to produce a film. So there will be two months of lectures
and one month of practical training,” he said.
He said the organisation plans to accept 12 to 15 students for
each course but will consider increasing the number based on the
number of applicants.
“Last year there were 250 applicants for a course we offered
on the technical aspects of filmmaking but we could only accept
50 students,” he said.
