Mawlamyine shopping mall opens

MAWLAMYINE’S first shopping centre, named Myine Yadanar, is due to open on March 19 – Mon State Day – said U Nay Win, executive director of Arrow Myanmar Enterprise Ltd, which runs the centre.
 
“No one has offered me a job yet. But, I don’t care. I make sure I save money when I am earning well and now I am living off that. It’s ok,” he says in his carefree manner. “Another movie role will come around when the time is right.”
 
“An actor is loved by many people. So I was. But on the other hand, I didn’t have much time to spend with the family due to my work. My wife wasn't always happy about this. But it’s a normal problem that every actor has to deal with.”

EYE experts from North America representing ORBIS International, a non-profit global development organisation, perform eye surgery at Mandalay Eye and ENT Hospital earlier this month. The experts conducted their ninth Flying Eye Hospital program in Myanmar from February 25 to March 7, during which they performed about 70 eye and laser surgeries and provided training to about 50 local ophthalmologists. With the help of ORBIS, which has been working in the country since 1991, Myanmar established an eye bank in 1994 and is now a member of the international Federation of Eye and Tissue Banks.
