Rising star takes out major art award

ORGANISERS of the Myanmar Contemporary Art Awards 2008 have hailed the competition a success following the exhibition of finalists at Yangon’s River Gallery on May 30.

Hip hop fans were keen to enjoy the show, the first big entertainment event since Nargis, and the artistes — Kyatpha, Jenny, Yatha, Linya, Htein Winn, Wine Su Khine Thein and Sandy Myint Lwin — sang as they walked to and fro on the catwalk, disregarding the drenching rain.

'Surprise' win for ambitious artist

“Whenever I feel bored and stressed, I usually spend my time cruising in Dala. When I saw people from Dala getting off the ferry to Yangon, I took the photos of this scene. I changed some angles and added my own creations though — it took about one to create,”
