THE eight-storey, three-star Pho Sein hotel in Yangon’s
Bahan Township is scheduled to open in mid-June, an official from
the hotel said last week.
“We bought the building three years ago and began making
a high-grade renovation in March last year,” U Pyae Phyo
Oo said.
However, he declined to reveal the overall cost of the renovations.
“Now renovations are about 90 percent complete and we
will be completely finished in the first week of June,”
he said.
He said the hotel’s location, on Pho Sein road, would
be attractive to potential guests.
“This is a hotel business area, there are quite a few
hotels situated near this intersection and on Pho Sein road,"
he said.
"The hotel is in a good location, with infra-structure
like hospital and restaurants.”
He said this would ensure that the hotel had a good, steady
supply of electricity, unlike many hotels that have to rely on
generators.
The hotel has 25 rooms spread across seven floors and also features
a lobby, reception and office on the ground floor.
The eighth level will be used as a balcony for night sky viewing
and will contain a bar and mini-kitchen.
Room rates are yet to be fixed but the operators said there
will be four room types.
Guest will be able to choose from superior, deluxe, suite or
economy accommodation.
The hotel will contain one lift, a 95 KVA generator and include
parking for up to 15 cars.
Meanwhile, hotels in Yangon were largely spared the effects
of Cyclone Nargis and operations and services have now returned
to normal, according to the hotels.
