Singapore education fair held in Yangon

Ni Ni Myint

SINGAPORE is the hottest international education destination for Myanmar people and RV Centre Yangon held an education fair for Singapore universities and colleges at Park Royal Hotel, on July 12.

Representatives from Shelton International College, PSB Academy, the Tourism Academy at Sentosa, SMA School of Management, Murdoch University, East Asia School of Business (EASB) and SIM Global Education, had stands at the fair.

Mr Argus Ang Wei Kwang, the managing director of RV Centre, said he aimed to provide accurate information for students wanting to study in Singapore.
“If we click on the internet pages, there are millions of facts and figures about studying in Singapore and the universities and colleges you can attend. But it’s a difficult decision to choose the right one for individual students,” he said.

Mr Edward Seow, the vice principal of Shelton International College, said that many of the students he spoke to at the fair were interested in the hotels and tourism field.

“Myanmar people love the service industry. Many were interested in tourism management because I think Singapore is a hub for tourism and they can get good jobs fairly easily after their studies,” he said.

One parent who said she was investigating the educational possibilities Singapore offers for her 16-year-old daughter, said she wanted to thank for the organisers for holding the fair.

“It’s nice to come here and get the exact information I was looking for and meet, face-to-face, some of the people involved in Singapore’s education system,” she said.

Ma Phyu Mar Mar Oo, who wants to study business at Singapore, said that she was glad she attended the fair because it left her gave her more information about what she wants to do in future. “I came to here to make a few inquiries and ask people directly and I was able to do this,” she said.
