“Myanmar string puppetry has a long history dating back to the 11th century Bagan period. But the first recorded mention of puppet theatre was found in an inscription at the Htupayan Pagoda in Sagaing, Upper Burma in 1444. During this time there was a grand celebration to commemorate the comp-letion of the Pagoda by the king; ceremonial music and other forms of entertainment were used for the festive occasion,”
