Serbian artist Mirjana Krstevska holds exhibition at
Beikthano Art Gallery
AN exhibition of landscapes by Mirjana Krstevska is being held
at Beikthano Art Gallery, No. 113/3 (B) on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road,
Yangon from October 4 to 11 between 9am and 5pm.
The landscapes, painted in oil or pastel, depict rolling hills,
forests, rivers and valleys in autumnal yellows and reds, dark
greens and blues, dashes of purple being used to lend an element
of the unreal. The collection of landscapes entitled “Green
dream” resists the temptation to reduce nature compositionally
to strong vertical or horizontal lines, depicting instead masses
of vegetation suffused with rich colouring. This is particularly
noticeable in the forest and river scenes that bring to life the
sometimes claustrophobic nature of such environments.
Mirjana Krstevska, 53, gained her Master’s degree in 1983
from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, has been a member of
the Association of Fine Art Artists of Serbia since 1981 and has
worked freelance since 1980. The current exhibition draws together
works painted after 1996 and is organised by the Serbian Embassy.
