THE Press Scrutiny and Registration Board under the Ministry
of Information released a statement on September 30 saying that
two weekly journals, The Action Times and True News, had been
temporarily suspended from publishing.
“The two journals were temporarily suspended because they
failed to abide by the rules of the Press Scrutiny and Registration
Board,” said the statement.
The Action Times has been banned from publishing from October
8 to 29 (one month), while True News has been suspended from October
7 to November 25 (two months), according to the statement.
The Press Scrutiny and Registration Board sent notices to all
local journals on September 19 spelling out 11 rules that “publishers
should take note of,” followed by a list of five “ways
and means of taking action” should publishers violate the
rules, including temporary suspension.
