A MYANMAR cycling team last week began preparations for the ACC
Track Asia Cup 2008, entering an eight-day tra-ining camp at Bangkok’s
Velodrome Huamark ahead of the October 10-12 event at the same
venue.
The Mobile Sub-centre training camp has been organised by the
Continental Cycling Centre, which is based in Shuzenji, Japan,
and will run from September 30 to October 9, one day before competition
gets underway.
Cyclist Aung Phyo will take part in 1000-metre time trial and
4000m men’s pursuit events while Aye Aye Thin will compete
in the 500m time trial and 3000m women’s pursuit at next
week’s competition.
The Myanmar team is being led by John Singh, an executive member
of the Myanmar Cycling Federat-ion, and includes the federat-ion’s
general secretary, who is also participating in the training camp.
“The secretary is training to learn the techniques and
coaching methods used in the training camp and then will be able
to help teach what they have learned here in Myanmar,” said
U Thet Win, the federation vice president.
