Monthly film screening at Japanese Embassy Assembly Hall

THE Embassy of Japan will screen a film entitled “We shall overcome someday” at the Assembly Hall of the Embassy on November 20 and 21 at 2.30pm. The film is directed by Izutsu Kazuyuki.
Tickets for the screening will be available from November 13 to the day of the show (between 9am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm) at the Embassy of Japan. One ticket is for one person only. Seats are limited.

Hip Hop stars to perform concert at Hmyaw Sin Kyun, Kandawgyi Park

Hip hop stars Sai Sai Kham Hliam, J-me, Ye Lay, Yatha and Jaut Jat will perform a stage show in November at Hmyaw Sin Island in Kandawgyi Park.
Sai Sai and J-me will perform new songs from their upcoming album. The event will start at 3pm and is taking place earlier in the day than usual for those who are worried about travelling home in the dark once the concert has finished.
Tickets are K4500 each, available at Conqueror (La Pyae Wunn), Nobody and Uncle Sam (FMI, Dagon, Yankin centre and BAK centre).

Ms Moe Yan 2008 contest

Ms Moe Yan 2008 contest will be held on November 13 in Mandalay and on November 15 in Yangon.
Application forms are available at Moe Yan and Myat Su Kaday main lottery shops in Yangon and Mandalay. Send forms no later than November 11 for Mandalay and November 14 for Yangon.
The Miss Moe Yan prize is K800,000 with Miss Shwe La Min K400,000 and the Miss Myat Su Kaday being K200,000. Two other prizes of K100,000 will be awarded based on the favourite style of the models and designers.
“It is the third time we have organised the contest. Any single person aged between 18 and 25 is welcome to participate. Participants can compete wearing any style of chic dress and must have attractive style,” said a spokesperson at Moe Yan lottery shop.
The winning person will have their photo taken for the 2009 calendar, poster and billboard campaigns.

Recent music releases

Singer Bo Phyu will release his album “Sanyae” on October 30. The album is inspired by the movie of the same name and is available on tape and CD.
Singer May Thu is releasing an album of pop and punk songs entitled “Bae thu a yae kyi lae” (Who is the most important?).
Singer Saw That has released his first album entitled “Lwan lite tar maung yae” (I miss you very much). They are available at music stores.

Wine of the month at Traders café

Wine lovers are invited to Traders cafe to enjoy their special “Wine of the Month” event. This month the cafe will be serving a number of less known wines from Australia. The price of a bottle of wine is US$16, with glasses being served at $4 per glass.
