THIS house – used in the loosest possible way – in
Insein township truly redefines the term “renovators delight”,
perhaps to sound more like “rebuilders delight”.
But looking at the location and size of the land, it just might
make some sense.
Sitting in a laneway between Pyay and Baho roads, the plot measures
about 0.25 acres.
It’s also close to the Sawbwar Gyi Gone highway complex,
Mingalardon Airport and several golf courses.
However, in its current guise the house looks like it has just
been reclaimed from the jungle, which looms at the periphery waiting
to again swallow the one-storey house.
Although there’s plenty of space for a garden, there’s
also plenty of work that would need to be done to tame the encroaching
greenery, which encircles the house. But if the work got done
there’d be ample space for a garden, lawn, a garage and
a badminton court too.
The house is about 20 years old but extensive work would be
required to get it back into shape. Enough work, perhaps, to warrant
a fresh start.
As it stands, there are three bedrooms, including an ensuite
master bedroom, a kitchen and a combined living room and dining
room. They are all extremely dilapidated.
Two electricity meters, one telephone line and both tube well
and government water systems have been set up for the house and
are included in the sale.
If you’re essentially looking for a large block of land,
don’t mind some hard work and like the idea of living away
from downtown, this house might be for you but be prepared to
fight a continuation battle with the jungle.
