Miss Christmas 2008 contest

Myanmar Model Management will hold the Beauty of a Star/ Miss Christmas 2008 contest on December 23 at Traders Hotel Ballroom.
The first prize is K1 million, with K500,000 for second and K300,000 for third.
Other awards will also be on offer such as the Miss Paul Mitchella, Miss Glow and Best costume designer award.
“The contest aims to find good models and can help start a career as an artist,” a spokesperson for the contest said.
Application forms are K2000 each and are available at every Paul Mitchella sale counter in the shopping centres.
Thirty candidates from all the contestants will be selected for the final contest and will receive training by an experienced professional within six days of the final.

New TV serial to start screening soon

A serial presented by Moe San Pan Media will be screened from November 19. A number of the cartoons penned by Aung Aung have been transformed into television serials called shwe gaung pyaung. The shows are directed by Lut Lat Eain and feature a number of new actors.
The show will be screened on the state-run Myawady television channel every Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm.
Shwe Gaung Pyaung is a knight who with the help of two companions protects villagers from attacks.

Half century retrospective photography exhibition of U Pe Khin

U Pe Khin a retired member of the Myanmar Photographic Society has organised a retrospective exhibition of his works taken over the past 58 years. The exhibition, entitled
“My life in photography since 1950” will be held from November 28 to 30 from 9am to 5pm on the first floor of Thamada hotel.
Fifty photos from the photographer’s collection will be exhibited. Most of photographs are landscapes and many have won awards in the past.
U Pe Khin has travelled broadly in Myanmar over the past 50 years so the exhibition will provide an interesting insight into the unique and diverse culture of the country.
