KABAR Aye Gamone Pwint Condominiums opened on December 17 in
Mayangone township, opposite Kabar Aye Pagoda, said U Nay Lin
Oo, the managing director of Gamone Pwint company.
The complex is 14 storeys and will include 108 condominiums.
The company has cooperated with the Yangon City Development
Committee (YCDC), which owns the land, to build and sell the condominiums
since 2003.
Prices for these will range from K70 million up to K120 million,
depending on the size.
Before construction began in 2003, the site had been the township’s
main marketplace. This market was shifted to an adjacent area
but there has since been complaints from a number of vendors about
the appropriateness of this location, with a lack of security
cited as a key concern.
U Nay Lin Oo said the company is working to address these concerns.
“We plan to resettle the market in Basement 2 at the end
of January, which will allow the individual shop owners and vendors
their own space. This should provide both shop owners and residents
the security they require,” he said.
“There are 40 shops in the Gamone Pwint depart-mental
store and there will also be one café and a playground,”
Daw Myat Myat Moe, the company’s sales manager.
“According to our agreement with the YCDC, our company
will own and be able to sell 54 condominiums. In fact, we’ve
already sold between 20 and 30 percent of these.”
