THIS newly-built house in Tarmwe township is a statement to passersby and potential buyers. It says, ‘I don’t want to stand out from the crowd’.

Yep, it’s got reflective glass windows, ornate balconies, teak window frames, carved wooden front door and pink external tiles that blister the façade.

The familiar theme continues inside with tricky light fittings and polished parquet flooring.

However, the paint scheme is a pleasant peach and the main rooms – living room, kitchen and the bedrooms – are all decently sized and would certainly suit a family.

In fact there are four bedrooms, more than enough to house a small to medium family with ease.

The compound is 3000 square feet and sits within the Myanmar Gone Young housing development, which is a scant 10 minutes from downtown by car. And speaking of the compound you’d think there was a war going on against nature with very little in the way of grass, trees or any greenery at all.

However, there is a built-in garage to the left of the house.

The downstairs level contains an ensuite double bedroom, a dining room, the aforementioned living room, a kitchen with an ugly drain sitting in the middle of the room and a separate bathroom.

Upstairs, there is a second living room with inclusive shrine, a large front balcony, an air-conditioned ensuite master bedroom, an ensuite double and one single bedroom. The master bedroom is also blessed with its own narrow balcony.

Both tube well and government mains water supply the house and there is a single electricity meter. And 24-hour power will be available to the buyer, just as long as they keep the included generator fuelled and running well.
