Zaw Win Htut’s band Emperor is releasing
a new album, which promises a return to the glory days of
rock music. |
LEGANDARY rock star Zaw Win Htut reappeared, to the delight of
his fans, with band Emperor to release their new rock ’n
roll album “Tasay Lann” (Ghost Road), an album that
returns to their influences from the late 1980s.
Following the popular trend among musicians, the new album will
feature original songs.
Zaw Win Htut said he has wanted to make an album of pure rock
songs since his last album “Hmyawlintchat Kanchay”
(Hope Beach) was released two years ago. This album was a more
sedate offering from the singer.
“I thought it wasn’t right at the time as my emotions
were more tranquil because I was influenced by expectations for
my children and family matters. So there were many blues sounds
and slow beats in that album,” said the singer.
During their 28 years of existence, Zaw Win Htut has released
more than 20 albums with his band but doesn’t think too
much has changed.
“As far as I can see, in these years, nothing has noticeably
improved in rock and even the talented artists only care about
getting into the charts, even with inferior creations. I know
it’s not easy to break into the music world with rock having
to compete against the new genres, but I feel like it’s
time to reawaken our rock spirit, which has dimmed of late.”
He also insisted that his latest album will take listeners back
in time to the heyday of the band’s rock creations.
“I want my audience to know that my affection for rock
is still strong in my soul. The arrangements and creations might
be different from the past but our feelings about rock are exactly
the same,” he revealed.
The album distributed by Master Music Production is released
on January 1 and includes 12 songs written by Thukahmain Hlaing,
Min Chit Thu, Saw Khu Sal, Zaw Win Htut and Kyar Pauk from Big
Bag.
The singer is also arranging a concert tour, which will take
in 30 towns throughout the country having already performed in
six places.
