Indian Embassy film festival
The Indian Embassy will host an Indian Film Festival from January
27 to February 6 at Nay Pyi Daw Cinema in Yangon. Moviegoers are
invited to enjoy seven superhits from Indian cinema, with each
film being screened twice except for “Nehru”.
The film festival is open to all and free of charge. Admission
tickets are available on request at the Indian Embassy from January

Dates and viewing times for the festival are as follows:
“Parineeta” — musical drama January 27 (6:30pm)
and February 1 (3:30pm)
“Hum Saath-Saath Hain” — drama January 28 (6:30pm)
and February 2 (6:30pm)
“Rain Coat” — drama January 29 (6:30pm) and
February 3 (6:30pm)
“Dhadkan” — romantic drama January 30 (6:30pm)
and February 4 (6:30pm)
“Phir Milenge” — musical January 31 (3:30pm)
and February 5 (6:30pm)
“KHAKEE” —action drama January 31 (6:30pm) and
February 6 (6:30pm)
“Nehru” —documentary February 1 (6:30pm)
One film of particular interest is “Nehru”, a biographical
film about Pandit Jawaharlal Nheru, who was the first Prime Minister
India upon its independence from Britain.
Comic serial to screen soon
A comic serial directed by Htin Htinn will start screening from
February 1. The serial will be shown on state-run Myawady Television
channel every Monday after the news at 6pm.
“A 20 minute short series once a week aims to make people
laugh and will help ease their tension,” director Htin Htinn
said.
