Monthly film screening at the Japanese Embassy
The Embassy of Japan will screen “Osaka Story” at
the Assembly Hall of the Embassy on March 19 and 20 at 2.30pm.
The film is directed by Jun Ichikawa. Tickets will be available
from March 9 to the day of the screening (between 9am to 12:30pm
and 1:30pm to 5:30pm) at the Embassy of Japan. Seats are limited.
Gitameit choir to perform concert as part of the Mekong-Japan
Exchange Year
To commemorate Japan-Mekong Exchange Year, Japan Embassy will
host a special concert with a performance by the choir of Gitameit
school of music. The concert will be held from 3pm to 5.30pm on
March 14 in the Grand Ballroom of Chatrium Hotel, 40 Natmauk Road,
Yangon.
The choir visited Japan last month to attend the Mekong-Japan
Exchange Year 2009 opening reception in Tokyo, together with young
musicians from other Mekong countries.
The Gitameit choir will perform a number of Myanmar musical pieces
that were previously performed in Japan. They will also perform
Japanese musical pieces.
Tickets will be available at the Information and Culture Section
of the Embassy of Japan, call 549644~48 on weekdays (between 9am
to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5.30pm) for complimentary tickets.
Group art show to be held at Hinnthar gallery
Artists Lun Mya Mya, Myint Aung and Hla Phone Aung together with
15 other artists will exhibit paintings from February 21 to March
21 at Hinnthar Art Gallery, No.42A, Inyamyaing Rd, Golden Valley
Ward (2), Bahan Township, Yangon.
The one month show by the artists will feature a wide variety
of contemporary acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings. The gallery
is open to the public from 9am to 5pm.
Rock with alternative bands at the Woodstock Festival
Myanmar Woodstock Festival 2009 will be held on March 6 in the
ballroom of the International Business Centre on Pyay Road. The
alternative rock show will start at 12 noon and will feature more
than 15 bands, including the talented Nightmare, Ice Cream, Suicide
Plan, Married for the Pain, My Scattered Dream, Fever 109 and
Jarmani.
Tickets are available for K2500 at Myanmar Time Square (FMI),
Let it Rock (FMI), Woodstock (La Pyae Wun), M+ (BAK), Uncle Sam
Boutiques and Nobody Fashion Shops. The first 300 people to buy
tickets will be given the free CD “When Faith is lost 2”
by ?.
This is the second Myanmar Woodstock Festival with the first being
held in Excel Tower back in 2008.
