To the back of the house is the large, fuss-free kitchen that has plenty of tiles and a standard integrated bench and basin along one wall. It won’t win any design awards but it’s more than capable of handling a family’s day-to-day cooking and cleaning requirements.
 
“Being a resident of Mandalay, I think I should take part in such a contest and I wanted to participate in Mandalay’s 150th anniversary because it is such a rare and exceptional event. I decided to compete and I feel very proud about winning first prize,”
 
LA Pyae Kabyar is the daughter of famous singer Khin Myat Mon and younger sister of Raymond (lead vocalist for the band Idiot). Though only 13 years old she has already sung on a host of children’s albums and also TV advertisements, all while studying at school. Timeout caught up with this talented young singer at her home in Sanchaung township and asked about her burgeoning singing career.
Despite the lack of foreign players on display, the fans turned up in droves and the turnout easily matched the crowd that two days earlier saw Magway and Delta United fight out a thrilling 1-1 draw.
