THE 6th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) will be the first to host an exhibition of agro-based products, according to organisers.
The exhibition will feature 600 booths displaying agriculture products – produce, animal by-products, aquatic products and packed food – primarily from China and the 10 ASEAN countries. There will also be a series of professional forums and business promotion programs for attendees.
The CAEXPO, which will be held in Nanning, China from October 20-24, will provide information and opportunities for incr-easing trade in agriculture-based prod-ucts, as well as improving agricultural cooperation between China and the ASEAN countries, accor-ding to a CAEXPO press release.
Agricultural trade in the region is expected to expand significantly when the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) is implemented in 2010 and the region is set to become China’s third largest trading partner.
China’s average tariff on ASEAN commodities has dropped to 5.8 percent and most tariffs have been eliminated completely, according to the press release.
