MES opens mechanical course in June

By Htar Htar Khin

MYANMAR Engineering Society (MES) is offering a two-month mechanical and electrical competency course starting from June 6 and running until August 9, vice president U Than Myint said last week.

“We’re providing this two-month course for engineers that have bachelor of technology or bachelor of engineering [mechanical] degrees at a cost of K20,000. Classes take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm,” he said.

He added that the aim of the program was to provide a bridge between the theory that candidates learnt at school and the practical work that will be required in the field.

U Than Myint said MES plans to offer series of courses like construction safety, guidelines for young engineers, transformer installation, maintenance and repairing, orientation course for civil engineers (level 1) and practising engineers within this year.

All classes take place at MES headquarters in Hlaing township and interested engineers can ring 519 673 to 519 676 within office hours for more details.
