‘5th Colour Wave’ exhibition
An art exhibition entitled “5th Colour Wave” will be held on June 19 to 24 at Myanmar Traditional Artists and Artisans’ Organisation (central), No 187-192 (eastward) Bogyoke Aung San market. Approximately 60 works in the realist style by 14 artists will be on display. `Most of the paintings deal with traditional subject matter such as pastoral views and pagodas.
“The paintings we display are priced between US$200 and $1000. We do not make much profit from selling them, but just aim for viewers to enjoy our paintings,” said artist Ko Ni, a participant in the exhibition.
Monthly Japanese film screening
The Embassy of Japan will be screening the film “Universal Laws” in the Assembly Hall of the Embassy on June 18 (Thursday) and June 19 (Friday) at 2:30pm. The film, directed by Kazuyuki Izutsu, stars Masato Furuoya, Kyozo Nagatsuka and Mari Torigoe. Tickets will be available from June 8 up until the day of the screenings (between 9am and 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm) at the Embassy of Japan. The number of tickets is limited.
16th Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) application process open soon
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea will hold the 16th Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) in Yangon and Mandalay on September 13 from 9:30am to 5:30pm at the Myanmar Info-Tech building in Yangon and the Swan hotel in Mandalay. TOPIK is classified into three grades: Basic (Levels 1 and 2), Intermediate (Levels 3 and 4), and Advanced (Levels 5 and 6). Each test is made up of a vocabulary, grammar and written test, and a listening and reading test. Application forms are available for K1000 from the Korean Embassy, No. 97, University Avenue, Bahan Township, Yangon, and from the Korean Language Department in Mandalay from July 1. Application forms, together with the application fee of K9000 should be retuned to the above-mentioned addresses not later than July 15. New comic serial to screen soon
Comic serial “The Village” will begin screening on Myawady TV channel from June 12 following the 6 o’clock news. The series will have 53 episodes, each lasting 15 minutes.
Directed by Moe Zaw Ko and written by Saw Yupa Thin and Zayar Linn the series centres around a village in which the community brings a local thief to justice following the theft of items of clothing and such.
‘Song in silence’ exhibition
An art exhibition entitled “Song in silence” will be held from June 23 to June 26 at No (8), Ko Min Ko Chin Street, Bahan Township from 9am to 5pm. Approximately 20 works of art by two abstract artists Yan Naing Tun and San Oo in acrylic on canvas will be on display.
