THE Hninzigone Home for the Aged in Bahan township in Yangon is calling for applicants for a six-month nursing and elderly care course that starts on July 1.
“The course will cover basic knowledge about nursing and care for the elderly,” said U Maung Maung Gyi, an official at the home.
He said the course, which costs K75,000, will be taught by experienced doctors and nurses. Classes will meet weekdays from 7am to 11am for practical training, and 1pm to 4pm for theoretical instruction.
“We have offered this course twice before and we’ve had a good response from the students,” U Maung Maung Gyi said, adding that 20 students from Yangon and 20 from outside the city will be accepted for the course.
Students must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and must apply at the home’s administration desk before June 26. For more information, call 546-196 in Yangon.
The home also held a birthday ceremony last week for its oldest resident Daw Aye May, who turned 108 on June 9. She has lived at the home for 30 years, and celebrated her birthday by offering alms food to Buddhist monks.
