SOUTHERN Myanmar head coach U Kyaw Tint said he will look to bolster his young side with some big-name signings when the next transfer window opens, after Southern Myanmar lost to Yangon United 1-0 at Thuwanna Stadium on June 11.
Yangon midfielder Tin Win Aung scored the decisive goal 30 minutes into the first half, hitting the back of the net from 20 yards.
Like Delta’s loss to Yadanarbon on June 9, the result effectively snuffed out Southern Myanmar’s chances of making the MNL Cup final on July 5.
Yangon now sits in third place, one point behind both Yadanarbon and Magway.
U Kyaw Tint said he was disappointed with his side’s performance against Yangon, particularly in their attacking half.
“Because we are quite weak up forward, we couldn’t break down [Yangon United’s] defence today. We are already planning to hire some local football stars [to fill this role],” said U Kyaw Tint. “There are a lot of good footballers in Myanmar but most of them have already been signed by MNL clubs so we’ll have to wait for the start of the transfer period, after the MNL Cup final.”
“I’ve heard that some players will move clubs after the MNL Cup. If there are players who fit in with my team and have good skills, we will sign them,” U Kyaw Tint said. Striker Kyaw Zin Win, from the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, is currently trialling with Southern Myanmar and a striker from Mandalay Division will arrive at the club soon.
