Maung Theit Dhi holds exhibition
In 1972, artist Maung Theit Dhi began painting in a style that incorporated sketches on canvas with ropes attached with glue.
“Until 1990, I sold my paintings with rope to local customers but also to the US, France and Thailand where art fans enjoyed the paintings and collected them. Most of the paintings were modern. Since then, I stopped creating paintings using rope. Now I have introduced my [rope] paintings to art fans again. Although there is not much of a market, some of the paintings have sold,” said the artist.
The solo exhibition is on display at New Treasure Art Gallery, No.84/A, Than Lwin Street, Golden Hill Avenue, Golden Valley, Bahan township, University Po, Yangon from June 6 to 26. About 16 paintings incorporating rope will be exhibited.
