UNICEF Vacancy – Fixed-term Position
Health Specialist, MNCH (Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health), NO-C
UNICEF Myanmar is seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and committed professional responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in maternal, newborn and child health interventions. Under the guidance of the Child Survival Specialist, the incumbent will carry out the following responsibilities: –

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and facilitate the implementation of Malaria, WCHD, Nutrition and UCI projects to achieve efficient and effective coordination and integration. Analyze and evaluate data to ensure achievements of objectives and/or take corrective actions. Assist in development of appropriate communication strategy to support and/or advocate MNCH programme.

2. Contribute towards the preparation and implementation of Myanmar Country Office response on Child Survival by compiling data from various sources, making further analyses and following up with partners on agreed activities and writing reports.

3. Facilitate coordination across the health and nutrition projects and with other sections for emergency preparedness and response.

4. Assist in the development or introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in project management and evaluation for child survival and maternal health.

5. Write project status reports required for management board, donors, budget review, programme analysis, annual reports, etc.,

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES required to perform the duties of the post:
- Advance University Degree in Medicine or related field, degree in public health preferably MPH required.

- Five (5) years progressively responsible professional work experience in project administration, monitoring and evaluation with a focus on maternal and child health

- Current knowledge of global and local maternal, newborn and child health issues and policies/ guidelines as well as scientific literature on Child Survival.

- Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.

Social Mobilization Officer (NO-C)

Duty Station - Yangon

Duration – Fixed Term

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The UNAIDS Secretariat country office in Myanmar is seeking qualified national candidates for the post of Social Mobilization Officer. Under the guidance of the UNAIDS Country Coordinator, the incumbent’s principal responsibilities will be to facilitate the functioning of participatory forums to advance HIV policy and practice and mobilize the involvement of actors from an increasing number of sectors in Myanmar society. The work will require providing assistance to different constituencies to enable their participation in national policy development processes, access to funding opportunities and better define and implement their own strategies.

Areas of work in the coming years are likely to focus on: increased participation of people living with HIV in the national response, increased coordination efforts at the State/Division and Township levels; assurance of the provision of technical assistance in key areas to governmental and non-governmental partners; liaison with the National AIDS Programme as it pertains to national civil society organizations; enhanced participation of civil society organizations in national planning and coordination; increased involvement of the media and faith-based organizations in the AIDS response; and improved engagement of non-health sectors.

Requirements:
Candidates are sought who can demonstrate: an ability to strategize, develop and implement their own workplans independently; successful experience at the community level on HIV issues; sensitivity and openness to persons living with HIV and of people from a variety of backgrounds; a familiarity with the UN system; a knowledge of the relevant Governmental departments, structures and regulations directly and indirectly related to HIV; an ability to write effectively in English; excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills in both Burmese and English languages; experience in facilitating workshops, focus groups, etc.; and knowledge of international best practice on a variety of AIDS prevention and care and support interventions. Candidates should have higher education in social science and/or international development, at least 6 years experience in civil society mobilization, collaboration and partnership development. Considerable knowledge and experiences of planning, implementation, monitoring and supervision of related field activities.

Knowledge:
Experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages. Must have good command in both oral and written English and Myanmar.
