THE designator code of Yangon Airways assigned by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will be changed from HK to YH starting from June 15, said a spokesperson from the airline.
“IATA airline designators are two-letter codes assigned by the IATA to the world’s airlines. Only the designator code will change from HK to YH, and we will continue using our old aircraft to respective destinations,” said the spokesperson.
IATA is an international industry trade group of airlines headquartered in Montreal, Canada, where the International Civil Aviation Organisation is also headquartered.
Yangon Airways was established in October 1996 as a domestic airline. The airline operates scheduled and charter services from Yangon to 13 commercial and tourist destinations in Myanmar.
