THE owner’s of this two-storey, four-bedroom house in Thingangyun township would have potential buyers believe that the building is actually a painting, some kind of concrete canvas.
To an extent that’s true – it’s not your average paint job. Unfortunately, that’s not necessarily a good thing; early warships employed similar paint schemes as camouflage on the high seas.
The block measures 7000 square feet and comes with a small garden that surrounds the house.
Uncommon design continues on inside: Structurally it’s tasteful but the decorations are not likely to appeal to a wide audience. The living room is a case in point: There are plenty of windows, a raised ceiling and a very high mezzanine level that would thrill children. But the white, pink and lime-green wrought-iron railings and mural around the main light on the ceiling belong in a particularly overdone doll’s house.
The kitchen and combined dining area are a welcome step back to reality but the room is just a little on the cramped side and the slate alcove seems contrived and unnecessary.
There are three bedrooms and one family room along the right-hand side of the house, with a common bathroom there for good measure too. The family room sits above the carport and is an open, breezy affair with big sliding doors that provide access onto the balcony.
Upstairs there is also one single bedroom and a luxurious, though highly stylised bathroom with a bathtub. If you can get past the brown slate on the walls you’re sure to love it.
The water is by government water mains and the house has one electricity meter.
If you can look past the camouflaged exterior and K450-million price tag this house might even represent something of a bargain in one of Yangon’s more desirable suburbs.
