COORDINATING OFFICE FOR THE ASEAN HUMANITARIAN TASK FORCE IN YANGON INVITES HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO APPLY FOR THE
FOLLOWING POSITION:
Position: Post- Nargis Recovery and Development Advisor

Office: Coordinating Office for the ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force for the Victims of Cyclone Nargis
Location: Yangon, Myanmar
Post Duration: 150 days within 12-month period
Reporting to: Special Representative of ASEAN Secretary-General in Yangon and/or the Head of the Coordinating Office
Background
ASEAN established a Coordinating Office in Yangon to Serve as a secretariat to the AHTF and the TCG. The 41st ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) in Singapore decided that the ASEAN-led coordinating mechanism, including the TCG, has been extended until July 2010.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Special Envoy of ASEAN Secretary-General in Yangon and/or the Head of the Coordinating Office, a Post-Nargis Recovery and Development Advisor shall provide focused strategic support to the ASEAN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Post-Nargis Recovery in Myanmar.
The Advisor will be responsible for supporting the Special Envoy to develop and maintain coordination among ASEAN member countries at a strategic policy level in the Post-Nargis recovery effort, ensuring that the disaster recovery efforts conducted through the mechanism of the ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force and the Tripartite Core Group are linked to ASEAN’s longer-term goals to support Myanmar build strong foundations for sustainable development in the future
Requirement
ASEAN Nationality or Non-ASEAN nationality with extensive experien ce working with governments as ASEAN countries.
