WEEKLY journals that have failed to publish for a period exceeding six consecutive months will have their licences revoked and will have to submit an application to resume publishing, according to an announcement from Press Scrutiny and Registration Division under the Ministry of Information.
The June 1 announcement said journals that have not published for the past six months or longer must submit applications to resume publishing to the division by the end of this month.
“Although all journals have renewed the extension for publication, some journals have been found to not be operating for more than six months continuously. Those journals will be closed accordig to its procedures” as of July 1, it said.
According to figures released in December 2008, there are 187 weekly journals registered with the division.
