KANBAWZA FC head coach U Aye Maung Gyi conceded tiredness could harm his side in their remaining Myanmar National League Cup matches after returning from AFC President’s Cup qualifying in Kyrgyzstan.
The Shan State club narrowly missed out on qualifying for the semi finals of the competition, losing its final group match 2-1 to hosts Dordoi-Dynamo Naryn on June 14.
On June 21, Kanbawza lost 2-1 to Yangon United in its first match after participating in the Asian club competition and fatigue played a factor in the defeat, U Aye Maung Gyi told The Myanmar Times.
“Players like Win Min Htut, Khin Maung Lwin and Moe Win had to play in the match against Yangon without taking any rest after coming back from the AFC President’s Cup,” he said.
His team has also been hit by injuries to key players, with Khin Maung Lwin, Win Min Htut, Tint Naing Htun Thein and captain Soe Myat Min all doubtful for Kanbawza’s remaining MNL Cup matches against Delta United FC and Magway FC.
“Some of those players will not be able to take the field at all, while others might be able to play despite their injury. If we think they can make a contribution to the team, we will include them in the squad. But I think Tint Naing Htun Thein will not be able to participate in our next few matches,” he said.
Soe Myat Min is suffering from a knee injury and is also unlikely to play again in the MNL Cup, he said.
But he said he still expected good performances from his players.
