THERE’S plenty to like about this three-storey, four-bedroom house in Bahan township. In fact, beyond a couple of minor interior foibles, the only thing that galls is the K750-million price tag and that might even be justified.
The security around the quarter-acre block is impressive, with the wall evoked the spirit of that Great Wall in China. And there’s a guard house just inside the wrought-iron gate.
Naturally there is an expanse of driveway but there is also a water feature out the front that is accompanied by lush grass, which has also taken root along one side of the house; there are also a couple of leafy palm trees too.
There are pillars supporting the blissfully low portico out front and there is a veranda of sorts running along the front as well. The house is cream in colour, the pillars have a sandstone veneer and the window frames are darkly stained teak. Notably, there are no exterior tiles, unnecessary balconies or garish reflective windows. Instead, unwanted heat and glare is kept away by lace curtains on the inside.
Some aspects of the lighting, especially the multicoloured mood lights recessed into the ceiling won’t appeal to every taste but are not likely to offend. The downstairs living room features dark green sofas set against the off-white walls, teak parquet flooring and a lovely central rug.
The dining room is a little fussier – there’s a green handbasin made from glass, faux stone veneer on a pillar and wooden paneling but the simple wooden table looks out onto the garden through an amply sized window. Oh, there’s a bar too.
Nearby there is a single bedroom with a bathroom alongside.
The kitchen is compact but purposeful with many storage places and working space.
Behind the house there are a servant’s quarters.
The master bedroom comes furnished with a double bed and built-in dressing table, while there’s a bathtub in bathroom. The room also has its own attached living space.
There are also two double bedrooms and a shrine room on the second floor. The final floor is basically one room that looks perfect for a studio or work out space. It also has a rear-facing balcony.
Nearly every room in the house has an air-conditioner and there is one telephone line included in the sale or rental deal.
