SIXTEEN years ago, in 1993, an operation was carried out at Yangon Children’s Hospital that drew the attention of the whole country. Siamese twins Aye Aye Nyein and Ei Ei Nyein, who were joined at the abdomen, were successfully separated. Since the operation the pair have always enjoyed celebrity status, featuring on calendars in their childhood and never too far from the public eye.
